Emergency Care

We are open 7 days a week with a team of highly experienced veterinarians and trained support staff who are equipped to provide urgent medical care for your pets.

All emergency cases are triaged upon arrival by our veterinary nurses. This involves a quick assessment of your pet’s condition, including vital signs, so as to determine the level of urgency. Please be prepared to share pertinent medical history or information around the circumstances that may have led to your pet’s presenting condition.

During your visit, our veterinarians will also speak with you to better understand your pet’s emergency, as well as share their assessment of the situation, and recommend the most appropriate next steps such as:

  1. Diagnostic testing – In order to determine the underlying cause of your pet’s emergency, diagnostic testing may be performed. This can include blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, and other relevant tests.

  2. Hospitalisation – Pets that require further care may be admitted to the hospital. Here, your pets will receive close monitoring and medical care to address their immediate needs and stabilize their condition.
  3. Surgery – In some cases, emergency surgery may be necessary to address life-threatening medical conditions. such as traumatic injuries, gastrointestinal obstructions, or internal bleeding.

  4. Pain management – Pets in emergency situations may be in significant pain. Our team will provide appropriate pain relief to ensure your pet remains comfortable.

  5. Follow-up care – After the initial emergency Has been addressed, your pet may require ongoing follow-up care. This can include additional diagnostics, medication, or further treatment.

  6. Referral – At times, your pet may require ongoing round-the-clock care, advanced imaging, or specialist surgery that may not be offered at our practice. In such circumstances, we will refer your pet to a specialist facility for further treatment. Our team will work in tandem with their specialists to ensure that your pet receives the appropriate care they require after referral.
