General Practice

Our General Practice Services Include:

Consultations

Consultations at Pet Medical Milsons Point are approximately 20 minutes and by appointment. In embracing our zPet Medical mantra of low stress handling, we have separate consult rooms individually designed for dogs and cats.

When you arrive with your dog, you can pop them on the scales to check their weight.

For our feline friends, we have a cat waiting area by the windows for them to bask in the sun. Cats can feel vulnerable and become anxious and stressed when taken out of their home environment. A cat’s instinct is to find higher ground so placing up high will make them feel a little more secure during their visit.

If you require special assistance with your pet, please let us know at the time of booking.

Microchipping

A microchip is an essential part of owning a pet. A microchip is the size of a grain of rice and contains a unique code that can be registered on a pet registry.

If your pet is ever lost and is taken to a vet or local Ranger, they can scan the microchip and retrieve the your pet’s name, address, and your details to get in contact with you and return them safely back home.

Microchipping is compulsory in all Australian states.

Parasites

Parasites such as fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and intestinal parasites if left untreated can cause serious health problems for your pets.

The most common parasites are heartworm, paralysis ticks, fleas and intestinal worms. Fortunately there are many available treatments available today. Working in together with you, we can create a suitable product and prevention plan that not only suits your pets needs but also suits your lifestyle. Remember – a preventable treatment plan is key to providing your pet with a happy & healthy lifestyle.

Dog & Cat Desexing

For dogs, desexing is usually performed around 5 to 6 months of age for smaller dogs and with larger dog breeds we wait until they are a little larger at about 12 months of age.

For cats, desexing can be done from 6 months of age.

Desexing prevents your pet from unwanted pregnancies, some undesirable behaviours, and certain preventable cancers such as ovarian, testicular cancers and mammary tumours.

Nutrition

Our practice offers a curated range of high-quality foods to suit your pets needs. We have prescription and diet foods for specific conditions as well as day to day options for healthy pets.

Ensuring good nutrition for your pets is important to help reduce the risk of them developing preventable conditions such as poor growth or obesity. Choosing the right food for your pet will give them a healthy skin with a lustrous coat, minimise digestive issues and potentially increase their life span.

We understand that choosing the right pet food can often be overwhelming and we are here to help you choose the best option for your pet.
