After Hours and Emergency Veterinary Care in Sydney’s Lower North Shore

Veterinary emergencies rarely happen at convenient times. If your dog or cat is unwell, injured, or showing signs of distress outside of regular clinic hours, it is important to know where to turn and what to do. Pet Medical Milsons Point provides pet care services and can advise you on the best course of action for your pet’s situation.

Some of the diagnostics include:

  • Blood tests
  • Diagnostic imaging (X-rays and ultrasound)
  • Electrocardiography (If required)

Our team will strive to keep you informed throughout the process and depending on your pet’s needs, we will guide you through the appropriate next steps to provide your pet with the appropriate care they require.

If you require care for your pet after hours, please call SASH on 9889 0289 or North Shore Emergency Clinic on 9436 4884.

What Counts as a Veterinary Emergency?

Some situations require immediate veterinary attention, regardless of the time of day. If your pet is experiencing any of the following, seek emergency veterinary care without delay:

  • Difficulty breathing or sudden respiratory distress
  • Collapse, loss of consciousness, or severe weakness
  • Seizures or uncontrolled trembling
  • Suspected poisoning or ingestion of a toxic substance
  • Severe trauma, such as being hit by a vehicle, a fall from height, or a serious bite wound
  • Uncontrolled or significant bleeding
  • Sudden inability to walk or use limbs
  • Bloated, hard, or distended abdomen with signs of distress (particularly in large dogs, as this may indicate gastric torsion, which is life-threatening)
  • Difficulty urinating, especially in male cats, as this can indicate a urinary blockage, which is a medical emergency
  • Eye injuries or sudden loss of vision
  • Suspected fractures

When in doubt, call us. Our team can help you assess the urgency of your pet’s situation and advise you on the most appropriate next steps.
